Join us for our inaugural Envisioning series on October 17th at The Building Society with an in-person panel discussion on the topic; “UK Net-Zero Carbon Buildings Standard: Is the UK market ready to deliver?”

Envision are one of the sponsors of UK Net-Zero Carbon Building Standard and director Sam Wallis sits on the Technical Steering Group developing it. With the upcoming release of the Standard, our industry will have an agreed definition and set of carbon targets for delivering a Net-Zero building in the UK. This in-person panel discussion will explore our industry’s ability to deliver the step-change required to achieve Net-Zero, from a development, funding, design and construction perspective.

Joining us are an expert panel, comprising key stakeholders in the delivery of buildings in the UK:

  • Laura Jockers – Head of ESG at M&G Investments

As head of ESG Laura works with M&G Real Estate’s global teams to drive the implementation of its ESG strategy, enhance the existing work being done by M&G’s funds on net zero pathways and ensure the business continuously improves its GRESB targets. Prior to M&G, Laura worked at The Howard de Walden Estate where as Head of Sustainability she set ESG strategy for its 92-acre portfolio. Prior to this she was a sustainability consultant at JLL where she supported a wide range of real estate clients with their sustainability agendas.

  • Michael Toft – Head of Care Homes at Octopus Real Estate

Michael leads the day-to-day activities of the ORE Care Homes team and manages the Octopus Healthcare Fund. He has 20 years’ experience in real estate, including managing institutional funds. Michael is a member of The Association of Real Estate Funds, (AREF) ESG and Impact Investing Committee.

  • James Scott – Director of ESG at Glencar Construction

James heads up the responsible business sustainability strategy, focusing on delivering the key priority themes of net zero carbon, climate change resilience, responsible procurement, waste and the circular economy, and social value. His previous roles at project, regional and corporate levels include roles at Amec, Bechtel and Mace Group.

  • Elise Hewat – Associate: Net-Zero

Elise leads Envision’s Life Cycle Assessment team and routinely develops and implements Net-Zero strategies for a wide range of clients and sectors. With a background in structural engineering, she has a detailed understanding of the design challenges in delivering Net-Zero. With experience in the North American market via her previous role at Entuitive, she also brings a global perspective to this issue.
