About the role
Strong governance, legal expertise, and compliance are essential to a thriving organisation – this role ensures exactly that. As Head of Legal and Governance, you’ll provide strategic leadership, manage legal risks, and support schools across The Elliot Foundation.
Advising the Trust Board, CEO, and senior leadership, you’ll ensure compliance with education, company, and charity law while fostering collaboration and accountability. This role balances big-picture strategy with hands-on problem-solving, making a real impact in a fast-moving environment.

about you
You have a strong legal background, with a law degree, professional qualification, or equivalent experience, and expertise in governance, compliance, and education law. With proven experience in leading governance or legal functions, you excel at navigating complex regulations, managing risks, and advising senior stakeholders.
A strategic thinker with exceptional problem-solving and communication skills, you balance compliance with practical outcomes. Proactive, detail-oriented, and adaptable, you thrive in a fast-moving environment. Committed to teamwork and the Trust’s values, you bring a positive, solutions-focused approach to every challenge.
What we offer you
- Contract type: Permanent, full-time position (40 hours per week, year-round).
- Competitive salary: £65,000 – £80,000, depending on experience.
